San Diego added for 2016 Travel Schedule

I have a business trip to the San Diego area June 21-25.  I was able to call and get a tee time secured for the South Course on June 24!  Unfortunately the North Course is closed for a 10 month reservation.  Torrey Pines (South Course) is ranked the #98 course in the U.S. and the #23 public course in the U.S.

I will still have time to add 2-3 more rounds of golf while in San Diego. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Los Angeles Added to 2016 Schedule

I have a business trip to the Los Angeles area May 18-24.  I am driving from Reno to Los Angeles so taking a lunch stop in the Bay Area to get TPC Harding Park in along the way. Since most of my meetings don't start until after 10 am, that leaves me the early morning to get a round of golf in each day.  Still building a schedule but here is what I have thus far:

May 18 - NR TPC Harding Park
May 19 - #97 (Public) Rustic Canyon Golf Course
May 20 - TBD
May 23 - TBD
May 24 - TBD

I have already played Pelican Hill, Half Moon Bay, and Trump National (as well as Pasatiempo and the Olympic Club). Would love to add a few new courses to my experience.

Since I am driving from Reno, I pass by the Bay Area as well. I still have several courses on the top 100 in the U.S., but I don't have any current contacts at Riviera, Los Angeles (North), Bel-Air, Cypress Point, San Francisco G.C., Valley Club of Montecito, California Golf Club of San Francisco, or Monterrey Peninsula so those are out of reach currently.

Pebble Beach (and Links at Spanish Bay and Spyglass Hill) is a pretty expensive trips. I also think I would rather wait and go with my son or some friends so I don't experience those solo.

Torrey Pines is further south than I was planning for this trip.

Cordevalle would be awesome but it has to be a stay and play package deal and I drive past it on my way to LA so that isn't in the cards for this trip.

I had a bad experience at Rustic Canyon a little over a year ago, and was unable to play the course after sitting around for four hours, but trying again since it is ranked in the 90s on the U.S. Public golf top 100 and I am going to be in the LA area anyways.

Any other suggestions out there?

Central Oregon added to 2016 Travel Schedule

I will be driving from Reno to Portland in mid-August.  I can't think of a better way to break up a 500 mile drive than with two rounds of golf!

The Crosswater Course at Sunriver Resort is the #62 ranked public course in the U.S.

The Nicklaus Course at Pronghorn Resort is the #38 ranked public course in the U.S.

In April, I arrive into Albuquerque at 11:30 am on the last day of their early season rates!  What better way to spend my first day of a long weekend in New Mexico?  Tee time set up to play the #31 public course in the U.S.-  Paa-Ko Ridge GC

Life updates and looking ahead to 2016

Now that we've settled into our new home after the move across country, and the new job has settled into a normal rhythm, I should be able to get some more blog entries up soon. There is snow on the ground so not sure when the next time I will get to hit the links again, but the next best thing is writing about it! Sorry for the three month absence.

Two more rounds added for Indiana trip

Since I am getting into Indianapolis a day early and have all day Saturday free, I have added two more rounds!  Coffin GC and Purgatory GC aren't ranked but they have really cool names.

French Lick Resort added back for 2015 travel schedule

I originally had French Lick Resort scheduled for August.  Due to some scheduling and work issues, I had to cancel.  However, I have found that the weekend before my last business trip to Indianapolis, I am open for a couple of days. So, I have added the Donald Ross and Pete Dye Courses back to my 2015 travel schedule. The Pete Dye Course is the #70 ranked public course in the U.S.

Walton Heath (Old Course) added to travel schedule!

I received, and accepted, an invitation to play Walton Heath Golf Club's Old Course this morning. I'm excited to play this course, not only because it is the last course in England on the top 100 list I haven't played, but also because of the rich history found at the club. Walton Heath (Old) is ranked #80 in the world.

Royal Liverpool GC added to travel schedule!

After attending the Open Championship last year, I have the honor and privilege of playing the course myself this July. I have added it to the travel schedule. Royal Liverpool GC is ranked #69 in the world.

Swinley Forest Golf Club added to travel schedule!

One of the courses in England I wasn't sure how I was ever going to get a tee time is the very prestigous and exclusive Swinley Forest Golf Club. With the help of a friend in England (Thanks Chris!), I have a secured tee time for July 13th!  I can't put into words how excited I am about the opportunity to play this course.  Swinley Forest is ranked number 92 in the world.

Crooked Stick GC added to travel schedule!

After my two and a half days down at French Lick Resort in August, I will be heading back to Indianapolis. Jimmy, from Tiger Golf Traveler Blog will be joining me at French Lick Resort for a day.  He was awesome enough to invite me to play at Crooked Stick with him afterwards. Thanks Jimmy!  Crooked Stick GC is the #100 rated course in the U.S.

Miami trip added to 2015 travel schedule!

Work is sending me to south Florida in November!  I have added a round at Trump National Doral (Blue Monster) and an undecided round at one of the other three courses. In addition, I have a couple of rounds scheduled at Heron Bay Golf Club. The Blue Monster course is rated the #20 public course in the U.S.

Longaberger GC added to travel schedule

I played Longaberger GC a year and a half before I started this blog. Since I wasn't writing this blog yet, I didn't take many photos but I ddi try to write a blog entry. I now have an opportunity to go back in June to play the course again and should have a much better blog write up on the course!  It is ranked the #63 public course in the U.S.

Slammer & Squire added to April schedule

I have added a late afternoon round at The Slammer & Squire Course on April 7. vI doubt I get a full 18 in since my tee time isn't until 4 pm but it gives me 3.25 hours before sunset to get some holes in.

Tentative addition to Travel Schedule in May

I am eyeing a tee time at the new Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point when I travel to New York in May. They only take tee times a week in advance so will call then. Hoping to secure a tee time for either mid to late afternoon on May 17 or anytime on May 18.

Scioto CC added to 2015 travel schedule!

I received an invitation to play Scioto Country Club while in Columbus, OH, for my business trip in June!  I, of course, graciously accepted.  Scioto CC is ranked #65 in the U.S.

Streamsong added to 2015 travel schedule!

I have a free day during my business trip to Orlando. With a whole day, I decided to add 36 holes at Streamsong - one round on the Blue Course and the other on the Red Course.  

Streamsong (Red) is ranked #52 in the U.S. and the #12 public course in the U.S.

Streamsong (Blue) is ranked #59 in the U.S. and the #16 public course in the U.S.

I have played the Red Course before I started this blog so will hopefully be able to do it justice with some good photos of the course this time.

Half Moon Bay Golf Links added to 2015 schedule!

My round at Del Paso CC on March 21 fell through. At the suggestions of my friend, Tom, I added two rounds at Half Moon Bay Golf Links!  I have a tee time scheduled on the Ocean Course in the morning and the Old Course in the afternoon. Neither are rated but should be a fantastic time!

Two more courses added for Las Vegas trip!

I have learned that I have Monday free during my week trip to Las Vegas.  As such, I have added 36 holes on that day. Morning round will be at Bear's Best Las Vega s(I thoroughly enjoyed Bear's Best Atlanta) and TPC Las Vegas.  Neither are rated but both should be a fun time.

Ballyneal GC added to 2015 travel schedule!

I received an invitation to play Ballyneal Golf Club in June! Ballyneal GC is ranked #75 in the World and  #40 in the U.S.

I am VERY much looking forward to playing two rounds at this awesome golf course.
